        Kunming World Horticultural Expo Park (referred to as Expo Park) is the site of the 1999 Kunming World Horticultural Expo. It is located next to the Golden Hall Scenic Area in the northeastern suburbs of Kunming, about 4 kilometers away from the urban area of Kunming. The Expo Park covers an area of about 218 hectares, with a vegetation coverage rate of 76.7 per cent, including 120 hectares of dense bushes on gentle slopes, with the water surface accounting for 10 to 15 per cent. The overall planning of the park is based on the mountain, integrating the local characteristics of various provinces, regions, and cities across the country and 95 national-style garden horticulture products, courtyard architecture and scientific and technological achievements in one garden, reflecting the theme of the times of "man and nature, harmonious development". The Expo Park consists of 7 thematic exhibition parks, 34 domestic exhibition parks and 33 international exhibition parks.         From May 1 to October 31, 1999, the Chinese government successfully held the world's largest international event at the end of the 20th century-the World A1 Horticultural Exposition for the first time in Kunming World Expo Park in Yunnan. Since its opening, the park has received more than 23 million tourists from home and abroad, 26 foreign heads of state, as well as many well-known people at home and abroad and more than 5,000 Chinese and foreign journalists.
